Louis Vuitton for Spring 2013 |
Maybe spring seems far away, but in fashion world it’s not like that. Prominent fashion designers have already shown their spring collection on fashion weeks around the globe. Every designer has their own vision, but I tried to extract the main trend, which you have to conquer until spring!
1. Elegant shorts

Chloe |
2. Exaggerated volumes
![]() |
Jil Sander |
In the next year the volumes will be even more modern! Loose cuts and avantgarde tailoring will skillfully hide lacks at ours bodies, which would be in tight piece of clothes easily exposed. Excessive volume are also appreciated as reminders of the sophisticated tailoring which can play with proportions. Besides, these silhouette are reminiscence of the 60s and 70s, but with a very modern and sophisticated touch. Our role models: Jil Sander, Marni, and Chanel.
3. Japanese kimono
![]() |
Emilio Pucci |
A kimono can be all kinds: as a kimono dress or a kimono shirt or as a costume. Prada is presenting a kimono in oversized variety with japanese flowers pattern, Etro refined it as a suit with smaller vivid flowers and Emilio Pucci imagined a kimono mixed with a military style with a trimmed golden dragon.
4. 60’s
![]() |
Louis Vuitton |
Already this year the sixties were a big inspiration for designers and they kept the trend for the next sping season. Obviously that was a golden era of the mankind and creativity, after which we still have nostalgic hiccups. Kate Spade brought them back as a sweet blouse and under a tiny bit widened bell-shaped skirt and Louis Vuitton with cubic graphics in poisons colors. Or you like more Moschino’s dress with big graphical accentuations? Inspirations and varieties is many!
5. Over-sized frills
![]() |
Gucci |
The key thing at this look is that you choose tight silhouette with added over-sized frills, which break monotonous image and attract attention to certain parts of the body. They go really well on the shoulders or upper arms (Gucci), on the low neck line (Chloe) or all the way from shoulders to the waist (Givenchy).
6. Animal prints in a ‘patchwork’ style

Preen |
7. Sailor’s stripes
![]() |
Marc Jacobs |
Every spring there’s the same story: We hardly wait for a weather get warmer and that we run away to the seaside. Till the summer break we have a sailor’s stripes pattern to comfort us. This spring and summer they got a bit wider. Jonathan Saunders designed them in a ‘V’ shape over the length of body, March Jacobs hit the vertical and at a ‘high street’ brand Topshop they have played with asymmetric and slightly faded stripes. In short, any stripe is not the same stripe, so try to find your sailor’s story.
8. Suit with shorts
![]() |
Emporio Armani |
Business suit with a skirt is an old story, for the next season designers advice that you change a skirt with shorts in same style, as the jacket is. Michael Kors suggested a striped suit, Matthew Willimason with graphical patterns and Emporio Armani in British style as is a trademark of Burberry.
9. Transparent
![]() |
Christopher Kane |
We love transparent, because it seems are nude, but it’s much more sophisticaed than vulgar barness. It’s unvield, but still covered. Emilio Pucci, Chado Rucci, Christopher Kane and Stelly McCartney for spring love a translucence.
10. Sport dimensions
![]() |
Hussein Chalayan |
Sport chic and ‘luxe’ are already from last year in fashion favor, everything since Celine and Stella McCartney brought it up. Stella has designed a sport jacket with added ‘twist’ with luxury and transparent fabric, later Victoria Beckham imitated it, but the trend in total with color-block neon variety has been introduced by Hussein Chalayan.
